I hope this blog becomes helpful for others who are considering living overseas. It really is an amazing experience. Of course, like ANY situation, you'll have ups and downs along the way but each one not only adds to the experience but makes you stronger and wiser...hopefully! Just look at my photos, if nothing else, to get your inspiration. I feel there's beauty in all things, all people and all places. You just have to find it. Enjoy!

Some pics from around Taiwan

Here's some photos I took around Taipei in January 2006 during Chinese New Year.

Introduction to "Living A Broad"

Wow, I've finally had the time to create this blog. I've lived in Taiwan for over four years now, I guess it was time to share my experiences with others. If I can do it, so can you. Perhaps then, I can encourage others to work overseas. It really is a great experience and allows for some major challenges.

If you ever thought about living overseas but were too intimidated, let me reassure you. It's really not all that bad. Of course, it depends on where you choose to live. For myself, it not only increased my independence, I learned a lot about the people around me. No matter where we live, people are the same around the world. It just varies a little from culture to culture. We just have to get used to the changes and go from there. Overall, I have to admit this has been the most empowering experience I've ever had. Especially as a "broad" (woman...for those who don't understand the use of this term.) There are prejudices all over the globe. I noticed it especially when traveling alone and of course, being female. It's not easy and can even be dangerous. So, do take care. That being said, most places are pretty safe and you can meet lots of nice people in your travels, make great friends and experience some of the best photo opts in the world. Anyway, good luck and just go head and "do it"!
Cheers.
